Powerful Client/Server
Accounting Software Selection Program

This most recent version has been designed to assist companies define their functional requirements and select the best-suited client/server accounting system. More than one hundred and fifty (150+) of the leading accounting products have been included in this release. The Accounting Library helps companies define their functional requirements by selecting from a list of over 3,000 features, functions and reports covering thirteen application areas:

In addition, users can define critical numerical requirements such as field sizes, segments, maximum dollar values, and even transaction volumes.

In order to maximize control over the entire needs definition and analysis process, users can input values from 0-9 to indicate their relative interest in each feature listed. In addition, users can define certain requirements as being critical. If a product does not meet any one critical requirement, it will be eliminated. Further, users can define groups of products for analysis, rather than analyzing the entire database. At the same time, vendors' responses are not limited to just YES/NO. They have the ability to indicate if a requirement can be met by a third party application, a report writer, a scheduled release of the product in the very near future, or whether the requirement can be met by either adding a field or modifying their program. In each of these cases users have the ability to discount such responses by anything up to 100%.

If an organization's requirements tend to be quite complex, they can elect to purchase the fully modifiable version of The Accounting Library. This powerful tool gives users the ability to add, modify, or delete any of the questions in the database, add entirely new modules to the list of questions, and add new products to the database. The modifiable version of The Accounting Library consists of two separate programs. The first is the analysis program itself, while the second program creates an automated vendor questionnaire. "In essence what we have created is an automated RFP or RFI," said Charles Chewning, publisher of The Accounting Library.

"The real power of this program lies in the fact that we allow organizations to launch the critical needs definition process from a greater position of strength. Rather than having to start from scratch, we are able to give them a template by which they can define their requirements far more rapidly and in more depth than they could if they attempted the same process manually. This even benefits the client/server vendors themselves. Rather than having to respond to multiple RFPs or RFIs, they can participate in our database and concentrate on what they do very well; namely creating powerful financial and business application software."

In addition to the analysis program itself, all subscribers receive a two volume 500+ page set of manuals containing all the text and forms you will need to select and implement the best-suited accounting system. A special edition of the manuals has been created for accounting software resellers. That edition contains a sales and marketing manual as well as installation manual. A 200+ page Business Excellence manual is also available for just $65. According to Mr. Chewning "Rather than assuming that the selection of accounting software is an isolated event, we have taken a different approach by looking at software selection as the first step in a process by which companies organize themselves for greater success. To be quite honest, I don't believe you can really separate the two."

This 200+ page textbook takes users by the hand and introduces them to concepts analogous to Total Quality Management and Business Process Reengineering, but from a much more practical point of view. "I have tried to read some of these improvement books, and they are so complicated that I believe they inhibit improvement rather than support it. We have taken an entirely different approach to improvement by trying to assist companies answer very basic questions such as what do they need to do very well in order to succeed," said Charles Chewning. The Business Excellence manual starts with an in-depth discussion of the fundamentals of Business Excellence and the process of change itself, and then moves on to discuss topics such as revenue and gross margin improvement, efficiency and effectiveness, excellent employees, organizational excellence, and finally process improvement itself.

The client/server accounting software analysis program joins the companies two existing programs. The Standard Edition analyzes accounting software from entry level systems up to and including low-end client/server products and costs $395.00, while the Modifiable Edition costs $1295.00. The Client/Server Edition costs $995.00. In all cases free upgrades as well as technical and consulting support are included for the first six months. Beyond the first six months, subscribers pay an annual subscription fee of $125.00, which includes updates and support.
