Questionnaire for The Accounting Library, Standard Edition Version 4.7

This Questionnaire contains approximately 1850 questions that are to be scored
in the ranking and selection process.

NOTE:  This file is a plain text file and has been formatted using spaces
       for alignment rather than proportional type with tab stops, etc.

       It was felt that this is the least common denominator for the
       wide audience for which it is intended. For best results, load it
       into your favorite word processor as PLAIN ASCII text then set the
       base font to Courier or some other font with fixed spacing.

   The Itemized Needs Definition Checklist has been designed to serve as a 
   preliminary worksheet prior to defining your needs or those of your client 
   in the analysis program. Each module has been broken down into logical 
   processing areas. As an example the General Ledger questions are broken
   into sub-sections relating to the Chart of Accounts, Transaction Processing, 
   Month and Year End Closing, Control Reports, and Financial Statements. 

   Your objective is quite simple. Pick and choose from this list of features,
   functions, and reports, and build as comprehensive a definition of your 
   or your client's accounting needs as is appropriate. 

   The guidelines listed below should be followed in order to complete the 
   Itemized Needs Definition accurately and with minimum confusion:

1. As the example below illustrates, each section of the Needs Definition
   form indicates both the module and the processing area. Some questions 
   stand by themselves, while others are a part of a larger group of 
   questions. In the example below, the "... Post to General Ledger :" is 
   the general question, while the two items following are the more detailed 
   questions.

2. If users are unsure as to the exact definition of any feature, function, 
   or report listed in the questionnaire, please refer to the associated Help 
   Files in the analysis program.  If we are running the analysis for you
   as a service, this is the most severe limitation to this approach. In
   most instances, if you do not understand the question, you probably do
   not need that function.

3. If a feature, function, or report is of no interest at all, skip it and
   proceed to the next question.

4. If a feature, function, or report is of interest, indicate the degree
   interest with a weighting factor from "1" indicating a low and "9" 
   (Critical) in the position provided.  Remember to use 9's sparingly
   as TAL rejects all systems that do not have the feature covered by
   the 9 you are using.  We suggest that you weight features you really
   need with 8's and reduce the weighting of all other less significant
   questions.

5. If numerical values are utilized at this stage, spend some time in 
   advance deciding exactly what a value of "1" or "3" or "6" etc. means.
   Using the whole range of values can improve the accuracy of the
   analysis, but may become somewhat confusing as users proceed with the
   questionnaire.

6. Once the questions are weighted, we suggest that you load the questions
   into a word processor and do a search on "underscore" "space"  
   (2) characters. This will make your word processor stop at the points where 
   the answers belong.
